Kipping It Real Issue 9

June Programming Insider

Hey Fitness Family,
June’s programing is going to be a little different than the passed few months. This month we will not be doing the same strength movements on the same day each week. For example in the past, every Monday has been squat day. This month will vary each week. If you are someone that cannot make it in Mondays and have been missing squat day, you’re in luck. This month we will be also adding in one Hero Wod a week. These workouts tend to be on the more challenging side, so it’s a great test of fitness, and we do them in remembrance of fallen soldiers. The main strength movements in this months program will be pause and positioning front squats, cleans complexes, pause and positioning snatches, odd objects, and one day a week we will be focusing on speed and agility. Pause front squats are going to help your front squat position and mobility in the front rack. This will also be good because we will be spending more time under tension with a lighter load, which means we will be building strength with less stress on the body and joints. Clean complexes are going to be another great way to work on form and technique. Don’t worry about the weight on this, just focus on your from and technique. The odd object days have been really popular lately. These are movements that will translate to the real world the most. Picking up D-balls can translate into picking up your kiddos, groceries, yard work, or lifting any odd objects around the house or at work. We will teach you how to brace your core, move properly, and stay heathy outside the gym. The snatches are a movement that test everything. Speed, power, mobility, flexibility, coordination, and they are just plane fun! Our new accessory piece is speed and agility. This is something that in the CrossFit world we do not do enough of. As we age, speed and agility is one of the first things we lose. Like being able to jump off the ground and run, change directions without getting hurt or being able to catch yourself before falling. This is going to be one of the most important peaces we do this month. Coach Aryn, Johnny, and Jess have contributed a lot for the WODS and accessory work this month, so we will get a chance to experience their great minds at work! Hope you enjoy this months programing and if there is anything that we are not hitting that you would like to see please let us know. Coach Zack
